Take a Behind the Scenes Look at the Oldest Operating Drive-In Theatre: Shankweiler’s in Orefield, PA

This month on my public access TV program, At The Movies, we take a behind the scenes look at the oldest operating drive-in movie theatre in existence – Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre in Orefield, PA. It was awesome getting to sit down with Lauren and Matt to discuss their theatre’s extensive history, how they came to be the owners, and all the things that make Shankweiler’s such a cool venue to take in movies.

I always learn a lot whenever I shoot a new episode of At The Movies, and this one was no exception. Such an incredible piece of cinema history right here in our neck of the woods. I will say – this episode was not without challenges. Since this interview was shot outdoors in a drive-in lot, I used two mediocre clip-on lav mics that work with my phone. The result was heavy clipping because for some reason the mic gain is stupidly hot by default.

Thank God for RX 11 audio repair, that’s all I can say. What you hear in the interview now, while still not the best quality, is leagues above what the original audio sounded like.
